OIC Welcomes UN’s Resolution on Enhancing Cooperative Efforts with UN.

Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat has expressed its approval of the United Nations General Assembly’s (UNGA’s) decision to adopt a resolution focusing on strengthening the cooperation between the United Nations and the OIC. The organization extended its gratitude to the countries that supported the resolution.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the OIC General Secretariat lauded the supportive position of the nations that endorsed the resolution, which highlights their dedication to peace, security, and international collaboration. The resolution, titled “Cooperation between the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,” was adopted unanimously and aims at fostering common objectives between the two entities to tackle global challenges.

The resolution outlines the commitment of both the United Nations and the OIC to conflict prevention, peacebuilding, post-conflict rehabilitation, and promoting a culture of peace. It also focuses on issues affecting Mu
slim communities worldwide, emphasizing the importance of interfaith dialogue and cooperative initiatives.

Furthermore, the resolution stresses the significance of the partnership between the OIC and the United Nations across various domains. It underscores the critical role of their collaboration in advancing the peace process in the Middle East, fighting religious and belief-based intolerance and discrimination, countering violent extremism, and enhancing joint efforts on matters such as counterterrorism and conflict mediation.

In light of this development, the OIC has reiterated its appeal to the global community to intensify efforts in executing the United Nations resolution concerning the Palestinian cause. The organization calls for the acknowledgment of the Palestinian people’s rights to establish an independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The OIC emphasizes the increasing relevance of its partnership with the United Nations, acknowledging the strategic importance of their alliance in
addressing both emerging and protracted crises amid ongoing international conflicts.
