Jeddah, The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed the announcement by the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, that the Yemen conflict parties agreed to a two-month armistice in Yemen, during which all forms of military operations inside Yemen and across the border would be halted.

The OIC expressed its appreciation of the UN Envoy’s efforts, hoping that the truce would enable alleviating the human suffering of the Yemeni people and provide appropriate conditions for the Yemeni parties to reduce escalation and reach a comprehensive political settlement of the conflict that would achieve peace, security and stability in Yemen and the region.
