Nationwide Joint Firewood Inspection Campaign Launched to Boost Environmental Sustainability

Riyadh: The National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases, along with the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification, has initiated a comprehensive field inspection campaign across the Kingdom. The initiative targets more than 130 imported firewood warehouses and outlets, focusing on enhancing environmental sustainability.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the campaign aims to ensure that imported firewood complies with environmental regulations and is free from plant pests that pose a threat to local vegetation. The primary goals are to curb the spread of pests, promote plant health, protect existing vegetation, and increase awareness among importers about the necessity of sourcing firewood from authorized suppliers.

The centers have stressed the importance of this campaign in encouraging cooperation within the environment, water, and agriculture sectors. They have called on facilities to adhere to legal requirements and collaborate with inspection teams, noting that such proactive measures are vital to reducing potential environmental risks.
