Riyadh: Manga Productions, a subsidiary of the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation, has entered into a strategic partnership with Bilibili, a prominent Chinese video platform, to enhance the exchange of creative content through a series of initiatives. The collaboration includes streaming Saudi anime on Bilibili, distributing Chinese animated titles in the Middle East, and launching a joint production model for animated short films.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the partnership began last month with the premiere of ‘Asateer2: Future’s Folktales’ on Bilibili, marking its introduction to Chinese audiences. This endeavor builds on the success of the first season, which garnered over 100 million views across various platforms. The partnership aims to localize Chinese animations for Middle Eastern audiences and promote cultural exchange between Saudi Arabia and China through joint productions.

Manga Productions CEO Dr. Essam Bukhary underscored the importance of this partnership in extending the global reach of Saudi creative content and empowering national talent. He emphasized the commitment to investing in Saudi youth and providing opportunities for participation in global projects that reflect cultural identity.

Bilibili Vice President Zhang Shengyan expressed enthusiasm for introducing Saudi animation to Chinese audiences and highlighted the partnership’s role in strengthening cooperation between young talents in both countries. The initiative also seeks to bring Chinese animations to the Middle East and explore broader co-production opportunities.

The previous success of the 2022 Saudi animated film ‘The Journey’ on Bilibili, featuring a Mandarin version with Jackie Chan, demonstrated strong resonance with Chinese audiences, attracting significant viewership and followers.
