Makkah: The National Water Company (NWC) has confirmed the readiness of its operational plan for water and sanitation services in Makkah and the holy sites for the 1447 AH Hajj season, executed by a trained national workforce of more than 2,400 personnel.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the plan ensures water storage of 3.5 million cubic meters, with continuous pumping averaging 760,000 cubic meters per day through networks spanning 5,700 kilometers. This volume is set to rise to approximately one million cubic meters on the Day of Arafat and Eid Al-Adha to accommodate the increased demand.
Environmental services are also a critical component of the plan, comprising sanitation networks extending over 4,000 kilometers and treatment plants processing more than 750,000 cubic meters of water daily. NWC has completed 12 capital and operational projects aimed at developing infrastructure and enhancing network efficiency across Makkah and the holy sites.
Moreover, the company's monitoring and control centers are in place to track water pressures and reservoir levels throughout the Hajj season. To ensure that water quality meets approved standards, mobile and central laboratories are conducting more than 4,000 daily tests.
