Buraidah: The Museums Commission launched the first phase of the mobile interactive exhibition ‘Our Saudi Story: A Window into Museums’ on Monday, described as the first of its kind in the Kingdom to showcase the collections of regional museums through modern technology. The exhibition began its tour in Buraidah, Qassim Region, coinciding with the Buraidah Dates Carnival, and will run until September 13, offering the public an unconventional sensory, visual, and auditory experience.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the title ‘Our Saudi Story’ represents the brand identity of the regional museums that the commission is working to inaugurate in phases over the coming years. Together, these 11 museums will recount the cultural and civilizational heritage of the Kingdom’s regions, with each museum embodying a distinct story within an overarching narrative that reflects Saudi pride.
The exhibition was inaugurated with visitors who found the experience to be a blend of authenticity and innovation. Eleven selected artifacts from Saudi museums were digitally reimagined and presented through motion design technologies and sound effects within a space that allows visitors to directly interact with the national heritage.
The Museums Commission noted that organizing this exhibition is part of efforts to provide modern cultural experiences that enhance societal awareness of heritage, demonstrating the ability of technology to preserve national identity and present it to new generations in a language that resonates with their taste. Entry has been made free of charge to encourage broader participation across all segments of society.
The exhibition coincided with the Buraidah Dates Carnival, which added significant value as the carnival is classified by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest attendance at a date festival. Bringing together commerce, economic activity, and social interaction, it offered the exhibition an exceptional public setting that merged culture with agricultural heritage and reinforced Qassim Region’s standing as a region rich in popular and agricultural traditions.
