Mount tamya: Mount Tamya (Jabal Tamya) is one of the most prominent geographical landmarks in Qassim Region, combining natural beauty and tourist appeal with a strong presence in local heritage. It is located in an open desert environment that reflects the Kingdom's diverse terrain and natural richness.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the mountain lies northwest of Qassim, within Uglat Asugour, approximately 30 kilometers southwest of the city, along the road linking Qassim and Madinah. Its strategic location makes it a notable landmark for travelers along this vital route, while its accessibility has enhanced its appeal as a destination for desert excursions.
Mount Tamya features a distinctive conical formation with a nearly rectangular summit, rising to approximately 1,300 meters above sea level. The summit extends over an area of around 7,000 square meters, where truffles are said to grow. It is also situated near the Qattan Mountains. The mountain holds a notable place in local folklore, associated with stories, legends, and proverbs passed down through generations.
Contrary to common belief, Mount Tamya is not volcanic in origin but a natural geological formation. It is often confused with the nearby Al-Wa'bah Crater, an extinct volcanic crater.
Mount Tamya remains a prominent natural tourist destination in Qassim Region, attracting visitors interested in desert excursions, camping, hiking, and nature photography. The area sees increased visitor activity, particularly during the spring season, from both domestic and international tourists.
