Jeddah Astronomy Society: World Unites on Earth Day 2026

Jeddah: On April 22, the world celebrates the 56th Earth Day, reflecting a rapidly accelerating shift in global environmental awareness.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Head of the Jeddah Astronomy Society Majed Abu Zahra stated that major cities around the world are witnessing a series of environmental events focused on practical solutions, with more than 50 global cities announcing they have reached advanced stages in waste management and in transitioning toward "green city" models. Wide-scale tree-planting campaigns have also been launched in areas affected by desertification to accelerate efforts to rehabilitate degraded ecosystems.

The organizers of Earth Day events called on individuals around the world to take simple but impactful practical steps, including reducing unnecessary energy consumption, supporting local sustainable products, and participating in environmental initiatives.
