Landmark Tech Investments Position Saudi Arabia as Global AI Hub at LEAP 2026

Riyadh: During the Year of Artificial Intelligence 2026, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is accelerating its technological transformation, pivoting from technology consumption toward building sovereign infrastructure, generating high-impact investments, and cultivating world-class national capabilities. Concluding its four-day run in Riyadh, the LEAP 2026 conference demonstrated a decisive shift toward laying the foundational infrastructure for future economies.

According to Saudi Press Agency, aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives for economic diversification and innovation, LEAP 2026 mobilized billions in long-term commitments. Announcements exceeded $15 billion on the opening day, followed by approximately $2.5 billion on day two, primarily targeting data centers, cloud services, and advanced computing.

A core focus was expanding regional data center and cloud infrastructure. Amazon Web Services (AWS) confirmed plans to launch the Kingdom's first cloud infrastructure zone in December 2026, and to expand its strategic collaboration with HUMAIN to deliver up to 50 megawatts within Saudi Arabia's designated AI zone by 2028.

HUMAIN unveiled several major partnerships to establish an integrated domestic AI ecosystem across computing power, infrastructure, and deployment. These included collaborating with Together AI to provide 55 megawatts of dedicated AI capacity and build a 250-megawatt data center, as well as teaming with AMD to deploy 25 megawatts initially, with a 250-megawatt infrastructure target over the next two to three years. In NEOM's Oxagon, HUMAIN and DataVolt began construction on a 100-megawatt initial-phase AI data center.

The initiatives extended beyond raw computing capacity into practical operational applications. HUMAIN partnered with Applied Intuition to deploy and operate thousands of autonomous trucks across Saudi Arabia by 2030, and collaborated with Reflection AI to host advanced foundational models directly on domestic infrastructure.

These strategic investments complement the ongoing efforts led by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) to measure and elevate institutional readiness through the National AI Index. Beyond short-term showcases, LEAP solidifies a durable national ecosystem that unites capital, computing power, and real-world applications to establish Saudi Arabia as a global builder and exporter of artificial intelligence.
