KSrelief to Support Small-Scale Livestock Breeders, Biogas Production in Yemen’s Socotra

Riyadh: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) today signed a cooperation agreement with a Yemeni civil-society organization to support small-scale livestock breeders and promote domestic biogas production in Hidaybu District, Socotra Governorate, under the 'Seed' initiative. The agreement was signed at KSrelief headquarters in Riyadh by Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs Eng. Ahmed Al-Baiz.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the initiative aims to enhance food security and sustainability in rural communities on Socotra Island by supporting the agricultural sector and livestock breeders. It will provide 150 needy families with essential agricultural inputs and three cows each, supply and install biogas production units, and train beneficiaries in their operation and maintenance.

In addition, 75 individuals will receive training in dairy production, and 20 will be trained in basic veterinary care and livestock disease prevention. A mobile veterinary unit will be equipped and handed over to the relevant government authority for operation and maintenance, benefiting 1,050 vulnerable individuals.

This initiative forms part of the Kingdom's humanitarian and relief efforts through KSrelief to support the agricultural sector in Yemen.
