Islamic Military Coalition Concludes Media Training Initiative in Dakar

Dakar:The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) has successfully concluded its "Peace Journalists" initiative in Dakar, Senegal, where it trained 40 media professionals from both civilian and military sectors. This initiative was aimed at enhancing their skills in countering misinformation and extremist rhetoric, as well as fostering responsible media coverage of terrorism and extremism.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the program provided participants with practical tools for verifying information and digital content, and for identifying rumors and hate speech. Additionally, media professionals learned about the methods used by terrorist groups to exploit media and digital platforms to spread their ideologies and attract audiences.

The training also included techniques for professional reporting on security incidents and crises, emphasizing the importance of delivering information in its proper context without inciting fear or stigmatizing communities.

This initiative is part of IMCTC's broader efforts to support member states through specialized programs that address their priorities, aiming to strengthen national capabilities across four key areas: intellectual, media, countering terrorist financing, and military.
