Jeddah: The 4th general assembly of the International Camel Racing Federation is taking place from November 23 to 26. This event sees participation from representatives of national camel racing federations and several international bodies and organizations, signifying the increasing global interest in the sport of camel racing.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the general assembly aims to address several critical topics, including the review of the federation’s future strategy and exploring ways to develop camel racing on a global scale. There will be discussions on launching new developmental projects and programs designed to support and enhance the sport, ensuring its growth and sustainability.
In addition to strategic discussions, the assembly will feature panel discussions and workshops emphasizing the latest technologies and modern methods for organizing camel races in line with the highest global standards. These sessions aim to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to advance the
sport effectively.
The event coincides with a significant announcement from the United Nations, which has declared 2024 as the “International Year of the Camel.” This declaration aims to highlight the essential role camels play in food security, economic growth, and improving the livelihoods of millions of families worldwide. Camels also hold cultural and social significance in numerous communities, further underscoring the importance of this global initiative.
