Jakarta: The Dukono volcano erupted today in Indonesia’s northern Halmahera, North Maluku province, releasing a plume of volcanic ash up to 3,000 meters above the volcano’s peak. An official at the Dukono Volcano Monitoring Authority, Sarjan Roboke, said in a statement that the ash plume reached a high density and moved toward the west and northwest. Due to the volcano, which is 1,335 meters above sea level, a series of seismic tremors were recorded.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Roboke called on locals to avoid approaching a radius of 3 kilometers from the volcano’s peak and wear masks while outdoors to protect their respiratory systems from volcanic ash.
