ICRC Operates First Humanitarian Flights via King Abdulaziz International Airport to Sudan

Jeddah: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has begun operating its first flights via King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, in cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to enhance humanitarian access to Sudan and facilitate the swift movement of humanitarian personnel supporting its operations there, in response to growing humanitarian needs in Sudan.

According to Saudi Press Agency, this cooperation reflects the Kingdom's firm commitment to standing by the brotherly Sudanese people, providing all possible support and assistance to alleviate their suffering, and supporting efforts that enable humanitarian organizations to reach affected communities swiftly and effectively, particularly amid urgent humanitarian needs in Sudan.

These efforts fall within the framework of the Kingdom's pivotal role in supporting humanitarian action, particularly through logistical and operational support that enhances the delivery of aid to those affected. In this regard, the Kingdom has worked with the ICRC to designate King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah as a hub for launching its humanitarian operations.
