Jeddah: His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, presided over the Cabinet session held on Tuesday in Jeddah. At the commencement of the session, HRH the Crown Prince provided an overview to the Cabinet concerning his official talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and the contents of a telephonic discussion with the Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Cabinet appreciated the outcomes of the inaugural meeting of the Saudi-Indonesian Supreme Coordination Council, highlighting the robust bilateral relations and mutual commitment to expanding these relations further. The Cabinet applauded the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between private-sector entities from both nations, which encompass areas such as clean energy, petrochemical industries, and aviation fuel services, aiming to establish a forward-looking economic partnership.

inister of State, Cabinet Member for Shura Council Affairs, and acting Minister of Media, shared in his statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the Cabinet reviewed the Kingdom’s persistent efforts and contributions on the international stage to promote multilateral action and reinforce global economic growth. This includes ongoing cooperation and coordination with OPEC+ producers to sustain stability in the oil markets.
The Cabinet also welcomed Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the 21st general conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), set to take place in November in Riyadh. The event aims to foster collaborative solutions to challenges associated with sustainable industrialization, innovation, and technological transformation.
Additionally, the Cabinet commended the unanimous adoption of a resolution by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), submitted by Saudi Arabia, to safeguard children in the digital space. This initiative, part of the ‘Child Protection i
n Cyberspace’ global campaign launched by HRH the Crown Prince, underscores the Kingdom’s vision for a secure digital environment for children.
The Cabinet recognized Saudi Arabia’s continued top ranking in the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook’s cybersecurity indicator for 2025, noting this as a part of a series of accomplishments achieved by the sector. The sector’s success in supporting technological advancement, localizing priority technologies, and enhancing international cooperation was emphasized.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia secured the first position globally in the ICT Development Index 2025, issued by the UN International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Dr. Saeed noted that this achievement reflects the robustness of the Kingdom’s digital infrastructure, its appealing investment environment, and the growth of its local digital economy, now valued at SAR495 billion.
The Cabinet expressed gratitude for ongoing successes in combating drug trafficking, highlighting the capture of criminal networks invo
lved in the trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances in Saudi Arabia. It affirmed the continuous security and preventative efforts dedicated to safeguarding the community from this severe issue.
The session’s agenda included topics analyzed in collaboration with the Shura Council. The Cabinet considered the findings of the Council of Political and Security Affairs and the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, along with input from the Cabinet’s General Committee and the Bureau of Experts. Several decisions were made, including:
1. Approval of the general agreement for establishing the Arab Common Electricity Market.
2. Authorization for the minister of interior to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Interior.
3. Authorization for the mayor of Riyadh Region to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding with Moscow for city management cooperation.
4. Approval of a memorandum of understanding for agricultural cooperation with Argent
ina.
5. Approval of a financial cooperation memorandum of understanding with Oman.
6. Approval of a memorandum of understanding with Austria for cooperation in mineral resources.
7. Authorization for the minister of industry to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding with Moscow for cooperation in industrial cities and technology zones.
8. Approval of a memorandum for cooperation in future transportation methods with Italy.
9. Authorization for the minister of investment to sign a draft agreement with Chad concerning investment protection.
10. Approval of a cooperation agreement with Thailand in combating terrorism and its financing.
