Riyadh: The Grace Preservation Foundation signed a cooperation agreement today with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), aiming to promote environmental sustainability and reduce food waste through enhanced community awareness and collaborative initiatives.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement seeks to strengthen partnerships that support the charitable sector in fulfilling its mission and contributing to national development goals. It outlines a framework for exchanging knowledge and expertise, launching joint initiatives, reinforcing food waste reduction programs, and developing scientific tools to measure and analyze food waste data, thereby supporting informed decision-making.
Grace Preservation Foundation’s Secretary General Eng. Abdullah bin Abdulrahman bin Saeed highlighted that the agreement aligns with the Kingdom Vision 2030 and the directives of its leadership, especially in the areas of environmental sustainability and food security. He stressed the importance of strategic cooperation in empowering community-based efforts.
The agreement also includes collaboration on food waste-related competitions and awards in support of Sustainable Development Goal 12.
Awareness campaigns and educational programs will form a key part of the partnership, including the use of UNEP’s ‘Recipe for Change’ initiative. Seasonal initiatives will be launched during Ramadan, the Hajj season, and relevant UN international days to promote best practices in food preservation and environmental responsibility.
The Grace Preservation Foundation continues to pursue partnerships with local and international organizations as part of its mission to reduce food waste and raise public awareness of its environmental, social, and economic impacts.
