Global Alliance Meeting in Riyadh Advances Two-State Solution Discussion.

Riyadh: The first meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution continued its proceedings in Riyadh, with participation from various international officials, including Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs and General Supervisor of the Public Diplomacy Deputyship, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi. The meeting focused on addressing the ongoing conflict and the suffering of the Palestinian people due to Israeli actions.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Al-Rassi emphasized the importance of this inaugural meeting, highlighting the urgency of addressing the ongoing Israeli aggression and the international community’s responsibility to facilitate peace. He criticized the international community, particularly the Security Council, for not effectively deterring Israeli actions, which violate international law and humanitarian norms. He called for a renewed commitment to the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and underscored the necessity of a comprehensiv
e peace process to prevent regional conflict escalation.

Dr. Al-Rassi stressed the need for participating countries to support a multilateral political solution to achieve peace through the two-state framework, ending the Israeli occupation. He reiterated the principles of international law, UN resolutions, and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative’s ‘land-for-peace’ principle as foundational to these efforts. The aim is to end the prolonged suffering of the Palestinian people and establish their independent state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He also called for global support, urging countries to recognize the State of Palestine, which would strengthen Palestinian rights and expedite the two-state solution. Dr. Al-Rassi warned that ongoing Israeli actions against Palestinians threaten regional and global security. He appealed to the international community, particularly Security Council members, to ensure peace by pressuring Israel to cease its aggressive policies and allow humanita
rian aid access.

Dr. Al-Rassi condemned the Israeli Knesset’s decision to ban UNRWA activities, labeling it a violation of international law and a threat to the multilateral system. He asserted that this move undermines Palestinian resilience and constitutes an attempt at forced displacement. He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s rejection of systematic targeting by Israeli authorities of UN agencies and humanitarian organizations, emphasizing support for UNRWA’s mission to aid Palestinian refugees.

In conclusion, Dr. Al-Rassi expressed optimism about the initiative’s potential success and noted the widespread interest in joining the alliance.
