General Court of Audit Delivers Peer Review Report to Maldives Counterpart

Male: Saudi Ambassador to the Maldives Yahya Al-Qahtani presented a copy of the peer review report on the audit work conducted by the General Court of Audit (GCA) on the Maldives Auditor General's Office. The report was presented to Auditor General of the Maldives Hussain Niyazy.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the report is part of a series of peer review missions carried out by the GCA's specialized team to facilitate the exchange of professional expertise among supreme audit institutions. These efforts aim to support the implementation of international best practices and standards, enhance transparency and accountability in the public sector, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of audit work.

A specialized GCA team visited the headquarters of the Maldives Auditor General's Office in February to assess its compliance with international standards issued by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), in line with its GUID 1900 Peer Review Guidelines.

The review covered the institution's independence in accordance with INTOSAI's principles on the independence of supreme audit institutions. It also assessed the office's audit methodologies and quality management system through a review of relevant documents, legislation, regulations, policies, manuals, and guidance.

The mission was carried out under a memorandum of understanding between the GCA and the Maldives Auditor General's Office, reflecting the two institutions' commitment to strengthening cooperation and facilitating the exchange of expertise in financial and performance auditing.
