Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah held today a phone call with Maltese Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg.

During the phone call, the two sides discussed developments in the situation in Gaza and its surroundings and the international efforts to address them, stressing the rejection of targeting civilians in any form and the need for all parties to respect international humanitarian law.

As a non-permanent member of the Security Council, the Foreign Minister urged Malta to work to ensure that the council fulfills its responsibility to maintain international peace and security by pushing for an immediate cessation of military operations and lifting the siege on Gaza. He stressed the importance of the council’s implementation of its decisions regarding the Palestinian issue, particularly Resolutions 242 (1967), 338 (1873), 1515 (2003), and 2334 (2016), to establish a just and sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with the relevant international references.
