Riyadh: The Fashion Commission has launched an initiative to provide educational programs for fashion pioneers in collaboration with the French Fashion Institute and the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation, known as ‘Misk.’
According to Saudi Press Agency, this initiative is in line with the Fashion Commission’s objectives to empower the local fashion industry and equip fashion professionals with essential tools for creativity and excellence. The programs stem from the Fashion Commission’s strategic partnership with the French Fashion Institute, announced in June, and aim to combine up-to-date knowledge with practical experience, creating a platform for designers, brand owners, and investors to thrive in the fashion sector.
The newly launched programs include five training courses. Among them is a preparatory course in executive business management in the fashion sector, which is divided into three phases: a virtual training program, an in-person program in Riyadh, and another in Paris, concluding with a final p
roject. The Riyadh segment covers planning, marketing, sales, brand identity, business strategy, visual merchandising, and retail, while the Paris sessions focus on academic topics like digital marketing, financial management, product development, and production.
Another offering is a developmental course on advanced sustainability practices in fashion, consisting of a virtual training program and an in-person training session in Riyadh. This course introduces participants to fashion and sustainability, explores the circular economy, and examines innovation and technology in sustainable fashion, alongside strategies for implementing sustainability and social responsibility within business models in the fashion sector.
The programs also feature a course on advanced research methods in design applications, emphasizing the preparatory foundations for designing a fashion collection. This six-day program delves into exploratory research at the intersection of contemporary global fashion, local and heritage mater
ials, clothing, textiles, and local architecture, delivered through virtual and in-person sessions in Paris.
Furthermore, the Fashion Commission offers a seven-day developmental course on visual merchandising and marketing in Riyadh, covering the essentials of building a fashion brand, marketing principles, visual display techniques, trend analysis, and insights into the fashion business landscape, distribution channels, and shopping strategies.
Additionally, a developmental course in fashion photography provides participants with insights into visual storytelling within the industry. This intensive six-day course, conducted in Riyadh, blends theoretical knowledge with practical application, offering a comprehensive exploration of fashion photography.
