Saudi Arabia Condemns Iranian Attack on Saudi Tanker SIDR in Strait of Hormuz

Riyadh: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's condemnation of the Islamic Republic of Iran's targeting of the Saudi tanker SIDR while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in fatalities among the tanker's crew.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry also condemned the Iranian attacks targeting the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the State of Kuwait. Saudi Arabia affirmed its full solidarity with these brotherly countries and expressed its support for all measures they take to safeguard their security and sovereignty against any threat.

The ministry emphasized the urgent need to halt escalation and respect the security and safety of international navigation, the security of global energy supplies, and the principles of good neighborliness. It reiterated the importance of upholding the sovereignty of states, the Charter of the United Nations, and international law and norms.

Saudi Arabia has called on all parties involved to exercise restraint, halt escalation, respect international law, and return to negotiations and peaceful solutions, the ministry's statement added.
