Family Affairs Council Heads Saudi Delegation at UN Women’s Conference

New york: The Family Affairs Council led the Saudi delegation participating in the high-level meeting commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Family Affairs Council Secretary-General Dr. Maimoonah Al-Khalil, head of the Saudi delegation, delivered the Kingdom’s statement, affirming the importance of international partnerships and the exchange of expertise in empowering women and girls. She emphasized that women’s empowerment should take place within the framework of supporting the family as the fundamental unit of society.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Al-Khalil highlighted the Kingdom’s achievements under Saudi Vision 2030 in advancing women’s empowerment, including an increase in women’s labor force participation to over 36%, their representation in nearly 42% of leadership positions, and recent legislative developments to safeguard women’s rights.

The Saudi delegation also took part in a high-level side event organized by the Republic of Turkiye and co-sponsored by several countries, including Saudi Arabia, titled ‘Better Together: Global Solidarity Rooted in the Family.’ The event focused on the role of the family in promoting social stability, cohesion, and sustainable development.

This participation reflects the Kingdom’s strong commitment to enhancing international cooperation in formulating family-supportive policies and building cohesive societies capable of addressing current and future challenges.

The council’s leadership of the Saudi delegation at these meetings reflects its expertise in women’s issues and its role in representing the Kingdom in international forums on family affairs.
