Executive Director of IPHRC Completes Productive Visit to Azerbaijan

Riyadh: Executive Director of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-IPHRC) Dr. Hadi Al-Yami concluded his five-day official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan on June 20. During the visit, Al-Yami engaged in several high-level meetings with senior officials and representatives of relevant institutions, focusing on enhancing cooperation in human rights, digital transformation, governance, and artificial intelligence (AI).

According to Saudi Press Agency, the executive director took part in the International Baku Summit of Ombudsmen, which occurred from June 18 to 19. The summit brought together ministers, senior government officials, international experts, and heads of national human rights institutions globally. The event served as a platform to deliberate on the impact of emerging technologies on human rights and examine ways to improve cooperation in addressing the opportunities and challenges associated with AI's rapid advancement.

In his address at the summit, Al-Yami emphasized the significance of utilizing AI for the benefit of humanity, upholding human dignity, and promoting sustainable development. He highlighted the necessity for these advancements to be framed within ethical values, justice, and responsibility.
