The Ministry of Interior announced today, Tuesday, that the community police had stopped 32 cases of electronic extortion and 12 cases of domestic violence in two weeks.
The ministry said in a statement that the community police detachments in the Department of Relations and Information at the Ministry of Interior stopped during the second half of this August 32 cases of electronic extortion, and 12 cases of domestic violence in Baghdad, and a number of governorates of the country.
It added that most of the extortion operations that were stopped by the community police came against the backdrop of bad uses of mobile phones and social networking sites by the victims, or through personal relationships that exist through cyberspace.
In addition, the community police took the necessary measures against blackmailers and abusers at a time when they deleted the contents of extortion, secured the accounts of the victims, provided psychological and moral support to the abused, and placed them within the aftercare program adopted by the community police to monitor the conditions of the victims and provide them with the necessary support.
