Dammam:Manama The Kingdom of Bahrain has issued a strong condemnation of two terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militia, which targeted King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and the Shaybah oil field in the Eastern Region. The attacks led to the deaths of one Saudi citizen and three Asian residents, injured ten others, and caused material damage to the facilities involved.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that these incidents are part of a systematic terrorist campaign. In recent weeks, there have been four consecutive attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, and the Shaybah oil field. The ministry described these actions as a dangerous escalation against vital facilities and global energy security, urging for an international response beyond verbal condemnation.
The ministry reaffirmed Bahrain's full support for Saudi Arabia, endorsing all measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its security, stability, and territorial integrity. It highlighted Saudi Arabia's right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, emphasizing that the security of Saudi Arabia is deeply linked with that of Bahrain and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
Additionally, the Bahraini ministry expressed condolences to the leadership, government, and people of Saudi Arabia, as well as to the families of those who lost their lives in the attacks. It prayed for mercy for the deceased and a speedy recovery for the injured.
The ministry further stressed that these attacks represent a blatant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and the UN Charter, posing a direct threat to global energy security. It called for action by the United Nations Security Council under Chapter VII of the Charter to address this threat to international peace and security.
Finally, the ministry urged for decisive action to prevent further Houthi attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure, emphasizing the need to hold those responsible accountable and ensure the full implementation of Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2817 to maintain regional and international peace and security.
