Riyadh: Saudi Aramco and BYD, a prominent manufacturer of new energy vehicles and power batteries, have entered into an agreement to explore closer collaboration in developing new energy vehicle technologies, as announced by Aramco in a press release today. The partnership aims to enhance both efficiency and environmental performance through innovative technological advancements.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the joint development agreement was signed by Saudi Aramco Technologies Company (SATC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Aramco, and BYD. This collaboration seeks to leverage the research and development prowess of these two global leaders to achieve significant breakthroughs in the realm of new energy vehicles.
Aramco’s Senior Vice President of Technology Oversight and Coordination, Ali A. Al-Meshari, expressed that the partnership with BYD is part of Aramco’s broader strategy to optimize transport efficiency. This includes exploring innovative lower-carbon fuels and advanced powertrain concepts, driven by the belief that a practical energy transition requires a multifaceted approach. Al-Meshari emphasized the company’s commitment to collaborating with BYD to advance these goals.
Luo Hongbin, Senior Vice President of BYD, highlighted the potential of SATC and BYD’s cutting-edge research and development capabilities to transcend geographical and conceptual boundaries. This partnership aims to develop solutions that integrate high efficiency with a reduced carbon footprint, marking a significant step towards sustainable energy solutions.
