The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the railway link project / Basra - Shalamcheh / in strengthening the infrastructure of the Iraqi economy and increasing its growth.

He also stressed in a speech during laying the foundation stone for the rail link project, the importance of the project by transporting travelers and visitors to the holy shrines from Iran and the countries of Central Asia, noting that: "The railway link is scheduled to reach the holy provinces of Najaf and Karbala."
