Al-Halbousi Calls For The Return Of Smuggled Iraqi Antiquities Seized By Serbian Agencies

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, called for the return of smuggled Iraqi antiquities seized by Serbian agencies.

The Office of the Speaker of Parliament stated: “Al-Halbousi met today with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.”

He added: "During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, and cooperation was developed in a number of fields, including education, agriculture and health, in addition to cooperation at the parliamentary level, activating friendship committees and exchanging experiences."

During the meeting, Al-Halbousi indicated the House of Representatives’ support for the Iraqi government in achieving economic partnerships in various sectors and strategic projects.

He called for more bilateral cooperation in the antiquities file, demanding the return of smuggled Iraqi antiquities seized by Serbian agencies, expressing his appreciation for Serbia's efforts in this field.

For his part, the Serbian President expressed his thanks for Iraq's position in supporting Serbia and its sovereignty over its entire territory, stressing his country's readiness to provide support to Iraq and joint work for bilateral cooperation in multiple fields in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly countries.
