Northern borders region: Northern Borders Region witnessed the summer solstice yesterday, marking the astronomical beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and recording the year's longest day and shortest night.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Astronomy and Space Club member Adnan Khalifa explained that the sun rose in Arar at 5:16 AM and set at 7:20 PM, bringing the day length to 14 hours and 4 minutes. He noted that the summer solstice does not necessarily mark the hottest day of the year, as land and water bodies continue to absorb heat in the following weeks, with peak temperatures typically recorded in July and August.
He added that during this period, the sun's path appears high in the sky at noon, rising from the far northeast and setting in the far northwest.
