Al-Baha Region Mayor Receives World Disability Union Delegation

Al-baha: Al-Baha Region Mayor Dr. Ali Al-Sawat received a delegation from the World Disability Union's evaluation committee today as part of a field visit to assess Al-Baha's readiness to become a disability-friendly city and review the accessibility of facilities and services for persons with disabilities, with several officials from the region's government and service agencies attending the meeting.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the delegation was briefed through a detailed presentation on the efforts of Al-Baha Region Municipality to adapt public facilities and municipal services to the needs of persons with disabilities. These efforts include improving accessibility in government agencies, providing ramps and accessible entrances, designated parking spaces, accessible restrooms, safe pathways, clear signage, and support services, all designed to facilitate mobility and promote independence.

The delegation also reviewed the level of accessibility of municipal facilities and services. In addition, they were informed about developments in the education and health sectors in the region, including the preparation of schools and educational institutions with appropriate facilities and pathways, as well as the support provided to hospitals and health centers through rehabilitation, treatment services, and specialized access routes, ensuring that persons with disabilities can easily access education and healthcare services.
