AGFUND Approves Financing 19 Projects in Sustainable Development Fields

Riyadh: The Board of Directors of the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) held a meeting in Riyadh on Thursday, approving funding for 19 development projects.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting was headed by Chairman of AGFUND’s Board of Directors, Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz. The board discussed AGFUND’s activities and achievements during 2025 and reviewed the proposed development projects to be funded in the current cycle.

The board expressed appreciation for AGFUND’s participation in the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Arab Coordination Group (ACG) held in Washington, D.C. The event honored the ACG legacy and contributions to improving the lives of millions, enhancing community resilience, supporting inclusive growth, and establishing a model of collaborative international partnership in the service of sustainable development.

The board commended AGFUND’s efforts during the 2024 Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development award ceremony in Madrid, where the w
inning projects, which focused on ‘Life Below Water’ and aligned with Goal 14 of the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals, were honored.

During the meeting, the board approved funding for 19 development projects that meet AGFUND’s criteria and align with its development objectives, particularly across its five programs: Women’s Empowerment, Early Childhood Development, Education, Civil Society Development, and Financial Inclusion. The approved projects also address other priority development sectors, including water, food security, climate change, and environmental sustainability, benefiting a total of 29 countries.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on adopting a forward-looking vision that builds on past achievements and enhances AGFUND’s impact in line with global transformations and sustainable development priorities, all within the framework of AGFUND’s updated strategy and institutional identity.

Since its inception, AGFUND has supported 1,796 development projects across 133 countries, collabora
ting with over 450 partners, including UN agencies, international and regional organizations, government entities, and NGOs.
