Jeddah: President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and Senior Vice President of the F©d©ration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, attended the unveiling ceremony of the visual identity for the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027S. The event took place on the sidelines of the AFC U23 Asian Cup final between Japan and China at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Al Khalifa expressed his pleasure at the launch, emphasizing that this marks a renewed starting point for Saudi Arabia's journey toward hosting the premier AFC tournament. He highlighted that the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027S will be a celebration of football and culture, reflecting the Kingdom's heritage and modernity. He expressed confidence that the event will resonate with passionate fans across Asia and beyond.
The AFC, alongside the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), revealed the new visual identity for the 19th edition of Asia's premier football tournament, less than a year before kickoff. The identity aims to inspire the next generation of players and fans across the continent by embodying confidence, modernity, and energy. It reflects the host nation's unique spirit and culture, celebrating the unifying power of Asian football.
The unveiling featured a short film titled 'Spark Across Asia,' illustrating the anticipation, unity, and passion surrounding the tournament. The film showed a glowing spark journeying through daily life and football moments before transforming into the Saudi Arabia 2027 emblem.
At the core of the identity is the official emblem, which combines a distinctive wordmark with the iconic trophy symbol inspired by stepped Najdi geometry, a style unique to Saudi Arabia. This geometric language, historically seen in engraved motifs and traditional textiles, conveys rhythm and balance while incorporating a distinctly Saudi aesthetic with an Asian dimension.
The emblem is complemented by decorative patterns inspired by Najdi architecture and traditional crafts, reflecting values of openness and hospitality inherent in Saudi culture. The trophy symbol serves as a primary graphic element, forming a flexible visual system adaptable across various applications. A color palette inspired by Saudi landscapes reinforces the identity with balanced, modern tones ensuring clarity and distinction.
The brand is guided by the concept of 'Saudi uniqueness,' reflecting the host nation's authenticity, while the theme 'Designed to Inspire Asia's Generations' places people at the center of the narrative, positioning the tournament as a meeting point between culture and competition.
The AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027S will take place from January 7 to February 5, 2027, in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al-Khobar, featuring 24 Asian men's national teams competing for the continent's most prestigious football title.
