Member of the Agriculture, Water and Marshlands Committee, Abdul Hadi Al-Abbasi, announced today, Monday, the study of several solutions to save the agricultural sector in Iraq.
Al-Abbasi said in a statement, “The agricultural sector in Iraq is suffering from many serious challenges, most notably the drought wave, and it needs a serious stance by everyone, whether by the government or Parliament, to develop quick and appropriate solutions.”
He added, "The Parliamentary Agriculture Committee has many proposals and solutions to save the agricultural sector in Iraq, which it will work on during the current period, including providing financial support to peasants and farmers."
He pointed out that "the solutions revolved around changing the irrigation mechanism from traditional to drip irrigation, exploiting the rains during the upcoming winter season, and building dams."
