21,477 Violators of Residence, Labor, Border Security Laws Apprehended in a Week

Riyadh: The Ministry of Interior conducted inspection campaigns in the Kingdom between January 30 to February 05 to ensure compliance with residency, labor, and border security laws.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the inspections yielded significant results, with 21,477 violations recorded across the Kingdom. These included 13,638 violations of residency laws, 4,663 related to border security, and 3,176 breaches of labor laws. The operations also intercepted 1,316 individuals attempting to illegally cross the border into the Kingdom, with 40% identified as Yemenis, 58% as Ethiopians, and 2% from other nationalities. Additionally, authorities apprehended 77 individuals attempting to leave the Kingdom unlawfully.

Further measures were taken against those aiding illegal activities, with thirteen people arrested for their involvement in transporting, sheltering, and employing violators. Currently, a total of 37,120 expatriates (33,547 men and 3,573 women) are undergoing procedures to enforce the regulations.

The Ministry reported that 28,661 individuals were detained for law violations and were instructed to contact their respective embassies or consulates for proper travel documentation. Additionally, 2,919 were advised to make arrangements for their departure, while 8,733 violators were already repatriated.

The Ministry of Interior has issued a stern warning that anyone facilitating the illegal entry of individuals into the Kingdom, transporting them within its territory, or providing shelter or assistance may face severe penalties. These penalties include imprisonment of up to 15 years and a fine of up to SAR1 million, with the potential confiscation of vehicles used for transport or houses used for shelter.

The ministry emphasized that these actions constitute major crimes warranting arrest. It also urged the public to report any violations by calling 911 in the Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, and 999 and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom.
