ACCIDENTAL EXPLOSION’ RIPS THROUGH SAUDI ARMS DUMP

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defense reported an “accidental explosion” at an arms dump at a site outside the city of Al-Kharj on Wednesday morning.

Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Turki Al-Malki said the site is used to destroy unusused and damaged munitions, adding that no injuries were reported.

An investigation is underway.

Saudi Exports of Dates Increased in First Quarter of 2021 by 67.3%

Riyadh, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s exports of dates increased, during the first quarter of 2021, by 67.3% by 142 000 tons than in the first quarter of the year 2020, as the total sales of dates outside the Kingdom, during the first quarter of 2021, exceeded SR 527 million, compared to SR 397 million in the same period in 2020.
The figures come to illustrate the remarkable rise over the last three years, as the Kingdom’s exports of dates achieved an upward increase in the first quarter of the following years. In 2018 the Kingdom’s recorded production estimated at 48 000 tons, was valued at SR 222 million, in 2019 it amounted to 55 000 tons, with a value of SR 267 million, in 2020 exports of dates reached 85000 tons, worth SR 397 million, while they jumped in the current year to exceed 142000 tons, with a value of SR 527 million, during the first quarter.
The CEO of the National Center for Palms and Dates Dr. Mohammad bin Fahd Al-Nuwairan, indicated that this positive development is a result of continuous effort and cooperation exerted by the relevant authorities, manufacturers and producers of dates in achieving the goals the authority.

First Saudi Airlift of Medical, Preventive Supplies to Tunisia to Combat COVID-19 Arrives

Riyadh, The two Saudi aircraft sent today by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) to the Republic of Tunisia to contribute to combating the spread of COVID-19 arrived in Tunis.
This comes as an implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. It also comes in response to the request of the Tunisian President Kais Saied, during his call with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.
The Saudi airlift to the Republic of Tunisia includes 100 ventilators, 90 portable ventilators, 169 oxygen concentrators, 150 oxygen generators, 150 electric medical beds, 27 vital signs monitors, and 21 patient monitors, 4 ECG patient monitors, 3,000,000 surgical masks, 1,000,000 N95 masks, 500,000 medical gloves, 180 pulse oximeters, 25 intravenous infusions pumps, 25 intravenous drug pumps, 9 defibrillators, 15 video laryngoscopes, 5 electrocardiographs (ECGs), and 8,000 protective gowns.
Saudi Ambassador to Tunisia, Dr. Abdulaziz Ali Al-Sager affirmed the keenness of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince to stand by Tunisia to confront the outbreak of this dangerous disease and mitigate its effects.
For his part, the Tunisian Minister of Health, Dr. Fawzi Al-Mahdi, extended his thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince for the assistance provided by the Kingdom to Tunisia to address the spread of COVID-19.
The Tunisian Minister said that this aid comes as an affirmation of the depth of the strong relations that bind the leaderships of the two countries, noting that Tunisia will immediately begin distributing Saudi aid to Tunisian hospitals to confront the spread of the virus in various cities.
Director of the Tunisian President’s Office, Minister Nadia Okasha, expressed her deep thanks to the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, praising the rapid response from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and HRH the Crown Prince.
Okasha stressed that the aid provided by the Kingdom today would support the efforts of the Tunisian Ministry of Health to confront the spread of the Coronavirus.
KSrelief Spokesman, Dr. Samer Al-Jutaili indicated that with regard to securing one million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, coordination is underway with the office of the Tunisian President to expedite contracting with one of the approved international companies to supply the required quantities of vaccines from its factories directly to Tunisia.
