Mehdi Al- Alak discussed with the UNICEF representative means to improve the operational capacity of the R-ZERO project in Basra

Baghdad, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Mahdi Al-Alak, discussed with UNICEF Representative in Iraq Peter Hawkins the reality of the water sector in Basra and improving the operational capacity of the R-ZERO project.

A statement by the Secretariat said that the Secretary-General's meeting with the UNICEF representative included discussing coordination with the organization by supplying pumps to Basra with a view to improving the operational capacity and securing fresh water, and 85% of the areas are suffering from water shortage in the governorate.

During the meeting, Hawkins called on the Secretary-General to attend a workshop on the Multi-Indicator Cluster Survey in Iraq under the title Iraq (MICS6) DIRC, which will be held in Amman for the period 18-27 September and in the presence of 20 experts.
