Dammam:Customs officials at King Fahd International Airport successfully intercepted a smuggling operation involving 40,000 amphetamine pills hidden inside a postal parcel.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi reported that the narcotics were discovered during routine inspection procedures utilizing advanced security detection systems and canine units.
After the seizure, ZATCA collaborated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to identify and apprehend the intended recipients within Saudi Arabia, leading to the arrest of two suspects.
Al-Harbi emphasized ZATCA's ongoing commitment to strengthening border security and combating smuggling activities at all entry points. The authority works in close partnership with the Ministry of Interior and other security agencies to protect society.
