Yaound©: The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, represented by the Islamic Center of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Yaound©, concluded yesterday the National Quran Memorization and Interpretation Competition in Cameroon. The event, held in cooperation with the Cameroon Islamic Cultural Association, underscores the Kingdom’s role in promoting the Holy Quran and supporting its memorizers.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the final rounds of the competition began on the 11th of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1447 AH and lasted four days. A total of 500 contestants, comprising 350 men and 150 women, participated in the preliminary rounds across 15 schools, institutes, and Islamic centers in various regions. Five committees were responsible for evaluation and nominations for the final stages.

Participants competed in three categories: memorizing the entire Quran with interpretation of the last three parts; memorizing half of the Quran with interpretation of the last two parts; and memorizing one-third of the Quran with interpretation of the last part.

The closing ceremony was attended by ministers, government officials, senior scholars, and students of knowledge, who expressed appreciation to the Kingdom’s leadership for its support of Quranic competitions. They also praised the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, for its efforts in organizing the event, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to serving Islam and Muslims worldwide.
