Makkah: The National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plants Pests and Animal Diseases (Weqaa Center) has completed full operational readiness for the Hajj season. Its field teams across Makkah and Madinah have intensified preventive and inspection operations to serve pilgrims, with the center mobilizing its technical capabilities and human resources to help ensure a safe and healthy Hajj.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Weqaa Center has stepped up inspection and continuous monitoring at Makkah's entry points for all livestock shipments, ensuring the safety of animals intended for the Udhiyah and Hady rituals, in support of food security and public health for pilgrims.
Weqaa Center's efforts have also included entomological surveys and disease vector surveillance to help protect public health.
The enhanced preparations aim to provide the highest levels of protection for plant and animal resources while enhancing public health measures for pilgrims through 191 specialized personnel, including veterinarians and technical assistants.
The teams operate through 67 field and emergency units equipped with advanced tools and technologies, working in close coordination to carry out intensive inspection and surveillance campaigns aimed at proactively containing any epidemic risks.
