Watermelon Season Opens Income Opportunities for Youth in Qassim

Qassim: Every summer, Qassim Region's watermelon auction market becomes a hub of economic activity, attracting farmers, traders, and shoppers. The market also provides income opportunities for young people seeking self-employment during the peak watermelon harvest season.

According to Saudi Press Agency, during a field tour of the market, growing activity among sellers and buyers was observed as farms across several regions of the Kingdom reached peak production. The market has become a busy daily destination where young people engage in trading, transportation, and marketing activities, benefiting from strong demand for one of the Kingdom's summer crops.

Market worker Abdullah Al-Marwti highlighted that the season offers valuable economic opportunities for young people. He noted that it promotes a culture of self-employment, provides an additional source of income, supports local agricultural products, and helps connect farmers directly with consumers.

He added that the market offers opportunities for a wide range of participants. A young entrepreneur, he said, can enter the seasonal produce market with modest capital and potentially achieve significant returns.
