Volunteers Collect Over 174,000 Iftar Meals from Surplus Food at Prophet’s Mosque

Medina: A total of 1,590 male and female volunteers participated in collecting 174,358 iftar meals from surplus food at the Prophet's Mosque through the 28th day of Ramadan.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Grace Conservation Association noted that the outcomes of this initiative included collecting 150,172 water bottles, along with milk containers, packaged dates, baked goods, and other food items, all gathered by volunteers. These items benefited thousands of fasting individuals and eligible recipients, reflecting the values of social solidarity and the optimal use of surplus iftar meals.

Volunteers contributed 7,950 volunteer hours to implement the initiative, supported by 250 cooling bags and eight vehicles for transporting food. This effort was in partnership with the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque and the General Authority for Awqaf. The initiative aimed to serve Umrah performers and visitors to the Prophet's Mosque, promoting awareness of the importance of preserving food, and reducing food waste during Ramadan.
