Riyadh: Upon the directive of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz decorated Chief of the Pakistani Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir with King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class, honoring his distinguished efforts to strengthen the strategic relationship and cooperation between the two nations.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the ceremony took place today during the minister of defense’s reception of Pakistan’s chief of army staff at the ministry in Riyadh. Prince Khalid congratulated Field Marshal Munir on his appointment as Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, wishing him continued success in his new role.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the historical Saudi-Pakistani relations and the strategic cooperation in the defense field, discussing efforts to establish the foundations of international peace and security, as well as issues of common interest.
Attending the meeting were Vice Minister of Defense Prince Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, Chairman of the General Staff General Fayyad Al-Ruwaili, Advisor to Minister of Defense for Intelligence Affairs Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia Ahmad Farooq, and several other officials.
