UNICEF Warns of Humanitarian Catastrophe Threatening Sudanese Children

Riyadh: The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) warned that Sudanese children are facing the risk of famine and disease as the conflict continues and humanitarian access remains severely constrained.

According to Saudi Press Agency, in parts of North Darfur, the majority of children are suffering from severe acute malnutrition, with catastrophic levels recorded in Um Baru, Karnoi, and Al-Tina, according to data from the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC).

The organization stressed that children under the age of five are the most vulnerable, citing the spread of fever, respiratory infections, and diarrhea, alongside low immunization coverage and a lack of safe water.
