Al-qunfudhah: Under the patronage of Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region Prince Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Al-Qunfudhah Governorate is set to launch the 15th Mango Festival on Wednesday for three days at the governorate's public park, in an event reflecting the growing agricultural presence of the governorate and its role in supporting the local economy.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Makkah Region Eng. Waleed Al-Daghis said that the festival comes as a continuation of an ongoing development path for mango cultivation and boosting the position of Al-Qunfudhah as one of the leading production areas in the Kingdom.
Mango cultivation in Al-Qunfudhah dates back more than 50 years and has witnessed continuous development with government support, making it one of the economically viable seasonal crops and contributing to its transformation into a prominent agricultural and investment activity in the governorate.
Since 1431 AH (2010), Al-Qunfudhah has organized 14 mango festivals, which have helped support farmers, market their products, and introduce visitors to this fruit that has become one of the most prominent features of the governorate's agricultural identity.
This year's festival includes exhibitions for farmers and agricultural products, sections for families working in cottage industries, food trucks, theatrical performances, and a photography corner, in addition to prize draws featuring mobile phones. It offers an experience that combines marketing, entertainment, and the enhancement of the local agricultural presence.
