UN Secretary-General Urges Halt to Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia

New York:United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has voiced his concern over the ongoing Houthi attacks on civilian targets in Saudi Arabia, as well as the escalation of hostilities near Taiz, Yemen. He emphasized that these developments are causing significant suffering among civilians and increasing regional tensions.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Guterres addressed reporters in New York, urging an end to the attacks on homes, hospitals, schools, airports, and energy facilities. He cautioned that the intensifying conflicts exacerbate humanitarian suffering and have widespread repercussions on energy markets, supply chains, and financial systems, further contributing to global cost-of-living pressures.

Guterres appealed for restraint and the creation of a political path forward in Yemen, highlighting the United Nations' ongoing efforts in this matter. He underscored the importance of ending the fighting, adhering to international law, protecting civilians, and safeguarding the rights and freedoms of international navigation.
