Umm al-qura: Umm Al-Qura University has achieved a global distinction by winning the AIREA International Competition on AI in Education 2025, hosted by the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK).
According to Saudi Press Agency, the participation came within the framework of the international partnership between Umm Al-Qura University and EdUHK. The research team, led by Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Jamoum University College Dr. Tarik Al-Afif, won the Excellence in Educational Impact Award in the second track. In addition, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer and Network Engineering at the College of Computing, Dr. Thamir Qadah received the same award in the third track.
The achievement highlights the university’s strong presence in international research and academic competitions and its efforts to advance the application of artificial intelligence in education.
Vice President for Business Development and Community Partnerships Dr. Warda Al-Asmari emphasized that the accomplishment reflects Umm Al-Qura University’s 2027 strategy, which focuses on promoting academic and research excellence, fostering innovation and competitiveness, strengthening global partnerships, and enhancing the university’s international reputation. She noted that these efforts contribute to building a knowledge-based economy and advancing the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Dr. Al-Asmari congratulated the winners on their success and wished them continued progress and achievement.
