Mecca: The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has implemented a proactive plan to ensure the safety and comfort of Umrah performers visiting the Grand Mosque with the onset of the rainy season. This plan includes deploying over a thousand employees and providing the necessary equipment.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the plan involves removing carpets from open prayer areas, providing non-slip plastic walkways, and ensuring the readiness of various locations for any emergency. It also prioritizes the safety of electricity generators, suspending escalators, and isolating power from equipment.
Specialized teams are working to drain rainwater and dry the mataf (circumambulation area) to ensure smooth movement and the safety of visitors, and to rehabilitate it to receive Umrah performers.
