Tunisian Minister of Economy Emphasizes Importance of Industrial Sector in Development at UNIDO Conference

Tunis: Tunisian Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Abdelhafid praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s leading role in supporting joint international efforts during his address at the 21st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), held in Riyadh under the theme ‘Global Industry Summit (GIS) 2025.’

According to Saudi Press Agency, Abdelhafid congratulated Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef on his election as president of the session, affirming Tunisia’s full support for his leadership.

He underscored his country’s commitment to strengthening the industrial sector by providing essential facilities for investments and enhancing quality and productivity levels. He noted that Tunisia has developed a comprehensive national strategy focused on promoting innovation and digital transformation in small and medium-sized enterprises and integrating industry into global value chains, with particular emphasis on high-value-added industries.

The minister also emphasized the importance of empowering youth and women, as well as creating suitable job opportunities, as part of a broader transition toward sustainable industries and a green economy.
