Riyadh: Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser affirmed the readiness of the transport system to serve pilgrims during the Hajj season through operational and field plans and advanced technologies aimed at providing a safe and smooth travel experience from arrival to departure.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Jasser, speaking during the 34th government press conference held in Riyadh, stated that the system began preparations early through 110 integrated plans covering readiness, operations, and emergency response. He highlighted that approximately 46,000 personnel are involved this season across various transport and logistics sectors to assist pilgrims.
In the aviation sector, the Kingdom's airports have been prepared to accommodate more than 1.5 million pilgrims, with over 3 million seats offered through six airports connected to over 300 international destinations via 104 air carriers. The expansion of the "Traveler Without a Bag" service for international pilgrims will be a notable feature this season, along with the transportation of Zamzam water containers and handling of more than 3.8 million bags through an integrated logistics system.
Regarding roads and land transport, Al-Jasser mentioned that comprehensive maintenance plans have been implemented for roads leading to the holy sites, including the maintenance of over 6,300 kilometers of roads. Additionally, more than 33,000 buses and 5,000 taxis will be operational to serve pilgrims. Thousands of buses will transport pilgrims between their accommodations, the Grand Mosque, and the holy sites during Hajj days.
Al-Jasser also highlighted that the Haramain High Speed Railway will provide more than 2 million seats through over 5,300 trips, linking Makkah and Madinah at speeds reaching 300 kilometers per hour. He concluded by emphasizing the transport and logistics system's commitment to delivering high-quality services and employing modern technologies to facilitate pilgrims' movement and enable them to perform their rituals with ease and comfort.
