Thunderstorms and High Winds Expected Across Several Saudi Regions

Jeddah: Thunderstorms accompanied by hail and gusty, dust-stirring winds are anticipated over parts of Jazan, Aseer, Al-Baha, Makkah, and Madinah regions. Maximum temperatures will remain elevated across the Eastern Region, with active surface winds and a chance of thundercloud development over the southern parts of the region and parts of the Najran Region.

According to Saudi Press Agency, winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to westerly at speeds of 15-45 km/h in the northern and central parts, and 10-50 km/h in the southern part. Wave heights will vary from half a meter to over two meters, resulting in sea conditions ranging from calm to choppy.

In the Arabian Gulf, winds will shift throughout the day. In the northern and central parts, winds will transition from northwesterly to westerly in the morning, to southeasterly to southwesterly in the evening. In the southern part, winds will shift from southeasterly to northeasterly in the morning to northeasterly to northwesterly in the afternoon, with speeds of 10-28 km/h. Waves in the Arabian Gulf are expected to range from half a meter to one meter, with the sea remaining calm.
